X Windows
X Window System
A standardized set of display procedures most often found in UNIX workstations. X Windows interacts directly
with the workstation server to generate a window for the client's use, thus it works independently from the
operating system or other hardware. Standards for the X Windows System are set by The Open Group's X Project Team,
which is under the X Consortium, an organization formed by several hardware manufacturers.
