TIFF
Tagged Image File Format
Intended as a superior, universal graphics file format, since its creation in the 1980's, TIFF hasn't
worked out as planned. First, there have been many unauthorized "improvements," so there are now about 50 versions
of the TIFF format. This has made TIFF far from universal. Secondly, JPEG has become the most popular graphics file
format because of its smaller file size and its Internet compatibility. This has shown TIFF to be far from
superior.
