Telnet
Telnet is a Unix-based interface program that enables the user to access files on a remote Telnet
server from any home or office computer. To use it, Unix commands must be used, which are awkward. Telnet is part
of the TCP/IP suite of protocols.
It should be noted that Telnet (and FTP) have fallen from favor due to serious security issues. However, there
now is a secure form of Telnet (and FTP), called SSH or Secure Shell, in which encrypted connections are used.
