It is necessary to first scan pictures into the computer in order to have them available so they may eventually be selected to appear on a webpage.

The method used for transferring a photograph, artwork, or other similar
two-dimensional item into a digital file in the computer. A scanner (pictured) is used to scan the
desired item.
