Hit Counter
A far more accurate means of determining the number of visitors to a website is by obtaining the number of "user sessions," or "site visitors" to a website from the server Logs at the website host. Many hosts provide reports.

A small program, a hit counter can be installed on any website. Most people
believe a hit counter will count the number of visitors to a website. That is not true. Instead, a
hit counter will count the number of individual files or webpages that have been accessed or
hit. To get a very rough estimate of the number of visitors to a website, divide the number of
website pages by the total number of recorded hits.
