DVI
Digital Video Interface
DVI is a type of video connector used for digital LCD
monitors which is effective in appearing to elinimate video
noise in digital-to-analog-to-digital conversion. DVI supports
bandwidth signals of over 160 MHz, which means it can be used
for high resolution (UXGA and HDTV) television. For that
reason, you will find DVI ports on high-end televisions as well
as the video cards in computers.
There are three types of DVI connectors:
1) DVI-I (Integrated) Most DVI ports connectors are
integrated and will support for both digital and analog
signals.
2) DVI-A indicates connector support only for an
analog signal
3) DVI-D indicates connector support only for a
digital signal.
Note that DVI-I, DVI-A, and DVI-D hardware are not
compatible.
