Driver

With computers, a driver is an important file that contains information so a computer will be able to recognize, integrate, and work with a new hardware device. It enables communication between the device and the computer.

All PC hardware must have a driver to facilitate integration of the device into the computer system. For Macs, drivers are usually not needed.
