CGI
Common Gateway Interface
A set of specifications that enables communication between a web server and a database or other program.
A CGI-bin is a repository on a server that contains scripts that are used in the receiving and processing
of data, such as a program's username and password. An alternative to the use of a CGI-bin is the use of the newer
scripting languages, including PHP, ASP, and JSP.
