Bluetooth
Named after Danish King Harold Bluetooth, Bluetooth technology is a widely-accepted wireless
specification that enables Personal Digital Assistants (PDA's), computers, scanners, printers, cameras, and mobile
phones to communicate with each other.
Wi-Fi is an alternative wireless technology commonly used in business wireless local area networks
(WLAN). Apple AirPort (for Mac products) is another wireless technology in use today.
Because Bluetooth is very low-frequency, its range is only about 30 feet. Some
consider this to be more secure than Wi-Fi, which is high-frequency and has a range of 100 to 300 feet
indoors and 2,000 feet outdoors.
