bay or drive bayAn rectangular opening or shelf on the front of a computer cabinet designed to hold disc drives, such as a CD player or floppy disk drive. A drive bay will have a metal bracket device with holes for easy installation. Usually one or more empty bays will be availble for the installation of additional disc drives.
