Autoresponder
This is a program that works in conjunction with a mail
server to send automatic replies to incoming
email. An autoresponder sends what is called an
autoresponse.
As an example: Say a webmaster set-up an
autoresponder for the email address:
<suggestions@companyname.com>. In the
autoresponder program, the webmaster set up a text
messages as an immediate response to any incoming email. Now,
should someone sent an email to that email address, the
autoresponder will automatically send the text
response, the autoresponse, that had been set-up. The
autoresponse could say something like, "Your
suggestion has been received. Thank you."
Autoresponders are often used in promotional marketing, with
numerous responses timed for intervals of several days.
