ASP
ASP is commonly used to refer to either Active
Server Pages or to an Application Service
Provider. These two things are unrelated to each
other.
Active Server Pages (ASP)
Active Server Pages was developed by
Microsoft® to enable server-side scripting.
This allows the website developer to create dynamic pages with
ActiveX, which is a set of technologies that permit software
components to interact with each other regardless of the
language in which the components were created. ASP is based on
Visual Basic
Application Service Provider
(ASP)
An Application Service Provider is a third-party
company that provides software-based services to their clients,
thus making it possible for a company or organization to manage
their own information services in an inexpensive manner.
