ASP

ASP is commonly used to refer to either Active Server Pages or to an Application Service Provider. These two things are unrelated to each other.

Active Server Pages (ASP)

Active Server Pages was developed by Microsoft® to enable server-side scripting. This allows the website developer to create dynamic pages with ActiveX, which is a set of technologies that permit software components to interact with each other regardless of the language in which the components were created. ASP is based on Visual Basic

Application Service Provider (ASP)

An Application Service Provider is a third-party company that provides software-based services to their clients, thus making it possible for a company or organization to manage their own information services in an inexpensive manner.
