ADSL
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line
For a perspective of all forms of DSL, see DSL.
ADSL is a newer form on DSL. ADSL has a
downstream (receiving data) rate of up to 9 Mbps, and up to 640
Kbps for upstream (sending data) rate. It is popular primarily
outside of Europe. ADSL uses high-frequency pulses and
cannot be used simultaneously with voice over the same wires.
ADSL requires its own ADSL modem.
RADSL, UDSL, CDSL, and DSL Lite
(G.Lite) are nearly identical to ADSL. DSL Lite
(G.Lite) is slower than ADSL, but does not need an
splitter for home or small business service.
